ASADHA (JUNE-JULY)

Asadha month falls between June and July. It is an important month for the Odia people for many reasons.

Rath Yatra (Car Festival), the grand and colourful festival of chariots, is celebrated on the second day of bright fortnight of Asadha month. Thousands of devotees from different parts of the country come to Puri to witness the spectacle of world famous Car festival of Lord Jagannath.

Guru Purnima, a religious festival dedicated to offering respect to all the Gurus, is celebrated on the Purnima (Full Moon) day of the Asadha month.
